Support the Fort

Old Fort Niagara is operated by the Old Fort Niagara Association, an independent, not-for-profit organization established in 1927. We do not rely on tax dollars. Instead, the Fort is funded through a combination of admission fees, museum shop sales and charitable contributions.

Become a Member

Members of the Old Fort Niagara Association help support the organization's mission to preserve the site and its collections and educate the public about the Fort's rich history. Member benefits include free admission to Old Fort Niagara for twelve months, free admission to numerous special events, including our annual French and Indian War Encampment, the largest of its kind in North America, discounted admission rates for your guests, 10% discount on items in the Museum Shop, advance notice of membership functions and special events, a bi-weekly e-newsletter, color quarterly journal and invitation to the Association's annual meeting.

Your tax-deductible contribution to Old Fort Niagara will help us fulfill our mission to preserve this unique historic site, educate the public about its rich history, and collect objects and documentary materials related to the site and the Niagara region. Old Fort Niagara is a not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts to the Old Fort Niagara Association are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund supports the development and operation of educational programs, preservation of buildings and landscapes at Old Fort Niagara, and development and maintenance of public exhibits at the site. Old Fort Niagara's Annual Fund is vital to the Fort's ability to provide high quality programs and maintain the historic site in top-notch condition. This year's Annual Fund goal of $120,000 will keep the Fort open to the public and help to underwrite the site's most popular exhibits and programs. About 45% of the Fort's operating budget comes from admission fees,  22% comes from museum shop sales and another 14% comes from grants. That leaves a gap of about  $120,000 needed to keep the Fort open each year. We need your help now more than ever. Your gift will help to preserve Old Fort Niagara's beauty, dynamic programming and historical integrity.

Special Event Sponsorships

Donors can help underwrite a special event at Old Fort Niagara for a $500 sponsorship. As an event sponsor, you will receive prominent recognition at seven major events scheduled between April and September 2012. This includes the Fort's internationally famous French and Indian War Encampment set for July 6-8 as well as events that commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.

For a sponsorship of just $500.00, you will receive:

*Prominent credit in program booklets distributed at six major 2012 events.

*Entrance signs recognizing your support at all seven major events.

*Recognition on Old Fort Niagara's website and Facebook page.

*10 free family passes (valued at up to $520.00) for clients or coworkers. Passes are good for a Fort visit for 2 adults and 2 children anytime during 2012.

*Recognition in our June newsletter (1,100) copies distributed to members and community leaders.

*Sponsor listing in our bi-weekly electronic newsletter.

During 2011, over 12,000 people attended special events at Old Fort Niagara. Most of these were regional residents who do business right here in western New York. General Contributions

General contributions are always welcome to defray the general operating expenses. Old Fort Niagara receives no general operating support from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation and depends upon admission fees, museum shop sales, membership fees, and donations from its supporters to carry out its programs of preservation and education.
