Old Fort Niagara's centuries-old buildings offer more than a few ghost stories, from the headless ghost that reputedly haunts the 1726 French Castle to unexplained shadows, slamming doors and eerie orbs. You will have the opportunity to experience the Fort's dark and mysterious past during the Haunted Fortress, set for October 15 and 22.
The event offers visitors a nocturnal tour of the Fort, complete with animated ghosts from the Fort's violent past. Visitors also stop by a bonfire and hear true stories of unexplained supernatural sightings on the Fort grounds. As a finale, volunteers will offer tours of the post's graveyard, which dates back to 1755.
Tickets for the Haunted Fortress are available in advance by calling (716) 745-7611 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily. Admission to the event is $20.00 per person. Advance reservations and payment are required. The tour is not recommended for children under 8 years of age. and visitors are encouraged to wear walking shoes. Proceeds from this fund raising event benefit Old Fort Niagara's educational programming, which serves over 13,000 children annually.

January through March, Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. (Closed Monday-Thursday) 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
April 1- June 30, Open Daily 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
July and August, Open Daily 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
September 1 - October 15, Open Daily 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
October 16 - December 31, Open Wednesday through Sunday (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays) 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The fort will be open daily during Christmas week, December 26 - 31.
Closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Old Fort Niagara is operated by the Old Fort Niagara Association, an independent, not-for-profit organization established in 1927. We do not rely on tax dollars. Instead, the Fort is funded through a combination of admission fees, museum shop sales, and charitable contributions.
