FALL FRONTIER DAYS-

Sponsored by the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area

and New York State Connect Kids to Parks Program.

Thursdays and Fridays, this Fall

September 27 & 28, October 4 & 5, 11 & 12, and 18 & 19

October 5, 12, 18 and 19 are closed.

Openings are still available for September 27, 28, October 4 and 11.

Fall Frontier Days is an interactive educational program for 4th and 7th grades. Students will encounter four great nations that played prominent roles in the Niagara region's history: the Haudenosaunee, France, Great Britain and the United States.

Focusing on the years 1726 - 1815, the program allows students to compare and contrast living conditions for Native Americans, French, British and American soldiers who garrisoned the Fort over almost 100 years. Students will learn about Native American history and culture, life at an 18th century fort, 18th century foodways, artisans, military music, architecture, engineering and commerce.

Admission to the Fort is underwritten by the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area. Bus Transportation is funded by the New York State Connect Kids to Parks Program.

Here's how it works- Step One: book your program with Old Fort Niagara and receive your confirmation. Step Two: apply to the New York State Connect Kids to Parks Program to cover your bus costs. Follow the instructions on the Connect Kids webpage. Do this as soon as possible after you book with Old Fort Niagara; grants from the Connect Kids Program are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

When you arrive at the fort,  you will indicate the number of students in your party. One free adult will be admitted per ten students. Extra adults must purchase admission.  The fort will invoice the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area directly for your admission fees.

Click here to apply http://parks.ny.gov/environment/connect-kids/grant-program.aspx for a grant to underwrite your bus costs.
