Tavern Nights Will be March 1 & 8, 2014by remerson
An evening of fun in an 18th century tavern
Old Fort Niagara will host its annual Tavern Nights on Saturday evenings, March 1 and 8 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Fort Niagara Officers Club. The event offers tavern-goers a chance to step back into an 18th century tavern, complete with live period music, savory food and beverages and a host of rowdy historical characters.
Eighteenth century taverns were social centers that attracted a wide variety of people. Tavern Nights are no different, offering patrons a chance to rub elbows with pettifogging politicians, card sharks, British Army recruiters and women of questionable virtue. During the evening, guests will have the chance to play an 18th century game, sing period songs, bid on an indentured servant and help track down a ring of counterfeiters. There might even be a fight to two.
Tickets for Tavern Nights are priced at $30.00 per person and must be purchased in advance by calling (716) 745-7611 Monday through Saturday. Proceeds benefit Old Fort Niagara's educational programming.
