THE ASSOCIATION

The Old Fort Niagara Association was founded in 1927 in response to fears among local citizens that the historic fort would fall into ruin. In partnership with the United States Army, who still occupied the site, the association obtained the money necessary to restore Old Fort Niagara to the condition in which it appears today.

Since its founding, the Old Fort Niagara Association has operated self-sufficiently under a license from  New York State. Like other not-for-profit organizations we do not receive substantial operating support from the government. Funds necessary for operation come from admission fees, shop sales, and community support.

Today, the Old Fort Niagara Association is made up of over 500 history lovers. Our members are individuals who believe our history is important, and have made a commitment to preserving it for future generations. If you share these values, become a member and help Old Fort Niagara keep our past alive.
