SPECIAL EVENTS


In our efforts to bring history to life, Old Fort Niagara hosts a series of special events every year! These events focus on specific historic periods and/or events in which Fort Niagara played a significant role.


These events included expanded programs and demonstrations and often attract large numbers of historic reenactors from around the US and Canada. During these events visitors will experience Fort Niagara in a new and exciting way!

SPECIAL EVENTS

DAILY PROGRAMMING


Old Fort Niagara is open year round and offers an exciting variety of living

history programs that help bring the past to life.


Your visit will begin in our visitor center with introductory exhibit, and orientation video, and a large collection of original artifacts that include our 1812 garrison flag. 


Inside the for your tour, our historic grounds that include 18th-century fortifications in several original buildings. You'll also learn what daily life was like for the men and women that lived in service at Fort Niagara through exciting, living history programs given by our knowledgeable, historic interpretation staff. Our goal is to bring our history to life every day for all of our visitors.

*Programming during the winter months is limited to hourly historic weapons demonstrations. Special tours and programs can be scheduled for interested groups.

Group Admission

Special admission rates are available to schools, tour operators and organizations. To qualify for these rates, the party must consist of 12 or more paying persons. The group leader must pay for the entire group in one transaction. Advance reservations are not required, but additional benefits can be made available to groups who schedule a visit more than two weeks in advance.

FALL 2026 EDUCATION PROGRAMS


Discover three centuries of history brought to life at Old Fort Niagara! Our Fall 2026 Education Programs invite students to step into the past through immersive, hands‑on experiences that explore the people, cultures, and events that shaped the Niagara Frontier. Programs run from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM, and advance registration is required.

Fall Frontier Days- this immersive program transports students back to Niagara's early years. Students learn about indigenous cultures, the French and Indian War, the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Program dates are Fridays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

French Heritage Day-  November 6. Explore the French occupation of Fort Niagara during this interactive program. Students learn about soldier life, the role of women, relations with Indigenous cultures, trade and commerce, exploration, foodways and much more.

When scheduling a tour please have the following information available.


  • School or group name, address, telephone number
  • Group leader contact name, telephone, number, email
  • Arrive and departure times at the Fort
  • Type of transportation used upon arrival and departure
  • Number of children, grade(s) or children's ages
  • Number of classes (for schools)
  • Number of adults for each visit
  • Any physical restrictions that need accommodations
  • Form of payment: Cash, check, credit card, ladders grant purchase order


In order to provide the best possible experience for your group, all tours must be scheduled at least 3 weeks in advance.
