French and Indian War Encampment

Relive the historic siege of 1759, when British, Provincial and Native American forces captured Fort Niagara from the French. This event features living history camps, battle reenactments, demonstratrions of 18th century siegecraft, frontier diplomacy and much more.

Friday, July 2

10:00 a.m. Colors, Safety Inspection, Memorial – Glacis

10:30 a.m. Engineering and Artillery Demonstration – British Lines

11:00 a.m. Battle # 1 British Assault the Lunette- Battle Area. Please note: for safety reasons, access to the fort will be closed from 10:45 until 11:30 am Friday only. To view the 11:00 am battle, please arrive by 10:15 am.

1:00 p.m. Field Music Concert

2:00 p.m. Engineering and Artillery Demonstration- French lines

3:00 p.m. Battle # 2 French Sortie – Battle Area

4:00 p.m. Artillery Demonstration- Dauphin Battery

 

Saturday, July 3

10:00 a.m. Native Council- British Camp

11:00 a.m. Battle # 3 – British assault and capture Lunette – Battle Area

1:00 p.m. Field Music Concert

2:00 p.m. Engineering and Artillery Demonstration – British Lines

3:00 p.m. Battle # 4 – French retake Lunette –Battle Area

4:00 p.m. Artillery Demonstration – Dauphin Battery

Sunday, July 4

9:00 a.m.  18th Century Church Call

10:00 a.m. Native Council – Castle

11:00 a.m. Battle # 5 La Belle Famille – Park

1:00 p.m. Field Music Concert

2:00 p.m. Artillery and Engineering Demonstration

3:00 p.m. Battle # 6 - British capture Lunette and force French surrender

3:30 p.m. Surrender Ceremony – parade.

Encampment Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Ticket purchases are at the door. 

Admission $16.00 for adults and $11.00 for children 6-12, under 6 free.

This is a special event and no discounts are available.

Also- the Fort Niagara Officers Club will be open 11:00 - 4:00 with exhibits and presentations on the 20th century history of Fort Niagara.

January through March, Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. (Closed Monday-Thursday)

April- May, Open Wednesday through Sunday. (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays)

Memorial Day to Labor Day, Open 7 Days per week.

September- December, Open Wednesday through Sunday (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays)

Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. 

The fort will be open Christmas week, Monday through Friday, December 26 - 31.
